A Level Results August 2012

Congratulations to the Year 13 students on their excellent A Level results.  68.1% of the pupils gained A*-C and 97% gained A*-E grades.  These were the second best A Level results in the history of the school and a full 11% improvement on last year’s results.
I wish to congratulate 4 pupils in particular who excelled on the day – Lauren Bounds with 3 A grades, Harriet Rofer 3 A grades, Morgan Owen 2 A* and one A grade, and Ryan Newcombe with 3 A* grades and one A grade.
There was a significant improvement in the number of A and A* grades this year – in 2011 one A* grade was awarded, this year it increased to 9.  In fact, 17% of all awarded grades for August 2012 were A* and A.
All pupils secured further or higher education placements for September 2012.  I wish to thank the teaching staff for their commitment and support and the parents for their continuous support throughout the two years.  We look forward to next year’s results when the Welsh Baccalaureate results will be published.
