A warm welcome back to Rhydywaun to everybody as another busy term commences. A number of you will have seen and heard the name of the school on S4C news, BBC Wales Today, Radio Cymru and Radio Wales as the regrading of English Language was announced. An additional 3 students gained a C grade and a further 5 gained B grades. I wish to thank memebrs of Year 12, in particular Abigail Williams, for their willingness to discuss the issue with the media.
The Tour of Britain recently passed the school and hundreds of pupils were provided with the opportunity to see Mark Cavendish and other renowned cyclists in the flesh. On the same day a whole school cross country event was held, rehearsals for the production of Sweeney Todd in February 2013 continue, Year 7 have recently visited Llangrannog for three days and staff and pupils have arranged a coffee morning in support of MacMillan.
This is also a good opportunity to welcome the new teaching staff to the school and hopefully these are familiar names to you by now. Miss Williams as Assistant Headteacher., Mr Ceri Type (Head of English), Mrs Rhian Davies (Head of ICT), Miss Carys Comley (English), Miss Sarah Jones (English), Mrs Denise Jones (English), Mrs Angharad Tay (Religious Studies), Mr Glyn Wise (Welsh), Mr John Manuel (Mathematics), Ms Lisa Dwerryhouse (Head of Chemistry). Hopefully the staff will feel increasingly at home in Rhydywaun and we look forward to their contribution in the coming years.
