Headteacher Update

posted 20 Mar 2020, 09:19 by Arwel James

Dear parents, guardians and pupils.

We hope you are well and taking care of each other as families during these uncertain times.

Following the information coming from the Government, the latest advice is clear:

"If children can stay safe at home, they should, to limit the chance of the virus spreading."

I realise that there is confusion regarding school closures and I would like to share an update we have received from the Local Authority during the day today.

Although no statutory education will be offered, as of Monday, Ysgol Rhydywaun will be open to pupils aged 11-14 who have parents / guardians working in essential services. We have also made arrangements for other specific groups of vulnerable pupils in our school. School transport will also continue next week with food available for pupils too.

Essential Services - these are people working in: -

• Health and social care;

• Education and childcare;

• Key public services;

• Local and national government;

• Food and other necessary goods;

• Public and national security;

• Transport;

• Utilities, communications and financial services.

If you are an Essential Worker, you need to complete the questionnaire below, for RCT, if you wish to have access to childcare

There is also a form on the school website specifically for Rhydywaun, to help us make arrangements for Monday.

Free School Meals

Food provision for pupils in receipt of free school meals will be available from the nearest primary school to the home daily between 11.00am and 12.00pm.

We will continue to communicate with our parents, guardians and pupils. Remember that the "Disgyblion" page is available to everyone on the school website with additional information and support.

Best wishes.
